COLUMBUS, Ind. – Milestone Contractors LP plans to conduct beam setting operations starting the middle of next week as part of the $30 million interchange project at State Roads 11 and 46, in Columbus.
On Wednesday, April 29, and Thursday, April 30, intermittent closures will take place for up to 20 minutes at a time on S.R. 11 while bridge beam setting is in process. Closures are planned from noon to 8 p.m. each day, and law enforcement will be on site to direct traffic.
Traffic has mostly been continuous and smooth so far during construction, but officials at the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) say more significant impacts will begin in the coming months. Changes include lane closures on westbound S.R. 46 and the Third Street Bridge in May, a full closure of S.R. 11 at some point in June, and lane restrictions on S.R. 46 this fall.
INDOT says work should be completed and the new interchange open to traffic by the end of 2020.
