COLUMBUS, Ind. – Families of Columbus Fire Department (CFD) firefighters are showing their “love” by covering some fire stations with positive and thankful messages.
After responding to multiple fires last weekend, crews returned to their stations to find hand-written messages of support on windows, doors, and sidewalks. Fire Chief Andy Lay had granted the decorators permission in advance as long as they remained outside of buildings and practiced social distancing. “We are thankful for this gesture during such trying times,” said Lay.
The fire chief also mentioned how appreciative CFD crews are for the support the community has shown them during the Coronavirus pandemic. They have been the recipient of cleaning supplies and hand sanitizer donations from local businesses, schools, and community organizations.
