COLUMBUS, Ind. – Three men were arrested by the Columbus Police Department (CPD) after being involved in three separate auto accidents over the weekend. All were arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
On Friday night, CPD went to Taylor Road and US 31, when a driver apparently crashed his car into a field. After a blood draw on Zackery Austerman, 31, of Columbus, he was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Early Saturday morning, officers were called to State Road 11 and Spear Street after a car struck a pole and left power lines in the road. Police say Corey Shane, 26, of Columbus, failed several field sobriety tests and was booked at Bartholomew County Jail for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
On Saturday evening, CPD responded to the 68-mile marker of southbound I-65, about a possible drunk driver. Officers supposedly observed Carlos Perez-Linares, 37, of Louisville, lose control of his car and strike a concrete barrier. Empty beer cans were allegedly found in his car. He was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle without ever obtaining a license.
