COLUMBUS, Ind. – Seven Columbus-area high school graduates have been awarded the Loretta M. Burd Scholarship from Centra Credit Union.
The program gives one graduating high school senior per Centra branch location a $2,500 award each year.
This year, students from four area high schools received scholarships. Winners from Columbus North are Erica Song, Andrew Goble, and Hannah Grimes. Melanie Hasler was the recipient from Hauser. Two seniors from Columbus East, Kaitlyn Dougherty and Madelyn Rohlfs, collected the honor. And, Jarod Ball from Indiana Creek was also awarded the $2500 prize.
The scholarship is named after Loretta Burd, who retired from Centra Credit Union after 47 years of service. The program is designed to help students pursue a college or technical school education.
