COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Police Department (CPD) arrested a local man who allegedly stole a vehicle at a Columbus gas station on Wednesday afternoon.
Officers responded to the Marathon gas station at 1105 Washington Street, at around noon, in regards to the car theft. It was reported to police that the suspect apparently took off in the vehicle while it had been left running for a brief period of time at the gas station.
CPD found the suspect a little later while he was walking in the 1900 block of Union Street. Police identified him as Timothy Wilder Jr., 30, of Columbus. The car was located nearby at Donner Park, parked and unoccupied.
Wilder was placed under arrest and is facing a preliminary charge of auto theft.
