COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus City Council voted Tuesday evening to authorize the redevelopment commission to grant $750,000 to the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC).
Most of the money will be allocated to three pathways of student achievement the commission has traditionally funded. Those avenues are iGrad, which ensures that at-risk students do graduate; STEM, which broadens opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math courses; and transition planning, which guides special-needs students into the work world.
A fourth pathway, information technology, has been added this year. It was designed by Columbus Signature Academy New Tech campus and Ivy Tech Columbus.
BCSC Superintendent Dr. Jim Roberts told Columbus City Council that the graduation rate for iGrad students is greater than that for the overall student body. He also said that the corporation intends to have STEM labs in every school this year.
