COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Police Department (CPD) is investigating an accident, involving a vehicle and two pedestrians on State Road 46 Thursday afternoon, which resulted in the death of a Columbus woman.
CPD says that about 1:30 p.m., a Jeep Wrangler, driven by Amanda Caldwell, 49, of Columbus, was traveling east on S.R. 46 near Two Mile House Road when two pedestrians entered the roadway and were struck by Caldwell.
Stacy Hardy, 35, of Columbus, was transported to Columbus Regional Health where she was pronounced deceased. Jackson Coe, 28, of Columbus, was flown by IU Health Lifeline to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and remains in critical condition.
