COLUMBUS, Ind. – Exhibit Columbus announced Tuesday its theme for the 2020-2021 cycle. For the exhibition next autumn, J. Irwin and Xenia S. Miller Prize recipients are invited to create site-specific, future-oriented installations using the theme: New Middles: From Main Street To Megalopolis, What Is The Future of The Middle City?
The 2020-2021 symposium explores the future of the center portion of the United States. New Middles speculates on the heartland, stretching beyond political borders, from Canada to the Gulf and from the Plains to Appalachia, and builds upon Columbus’ legacy as a laboratory for design as a civic investment.
New Middles considers Columbus a place to destabilize assumptions and imagine new architectures and landscapes as a way to positively move our cities forward.
