COLUMBUS, Ind. – After considering the health and safety of sponsors, volunteers, participants, and spectators, the Festival of Lights Parade committee has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event, scheduled for December 5, in downtown Columbus.
After closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation, organizers concluded that the number of people involved in all aspects of the parade and the thousands from around the region who attend is too significant to risk being the source of a superspreader event.
Parade committee members wanted groups who enter floats to know now because they often begin to design and build their entries as early as Labor Day.
Organizers apologize and look forward to celebrating the holidays with you and your families in 2021.
