WAYNESVILLE, Ind. – 19-year-old Bobby Truitt was taken into custody Tuesday evening after being labeled a person of interest in a death investigation that began Monday morning in Waynesville.
The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) was originally called to the 2700 block of South East Street, in Waynesville, on Monday at 6:30 a.m. When deputies arrived, they reportedly found a deceased female with suspicious injuries. They secured the scene and notified the Bartholomew County Death Investigation Team.
Chief Deputy Major Chris Lane said that after speaking with family, an SUV was said to be missing from the house. Indianapolis police reported Monday afternoon that they spotted the missing vehicle.
Tuesday morning, Truitt was listed as a person of interest in the investigation. BCSO believes that he was the last person to see the victim alive. Later that evening, the suspect was arrested in Indianapolis by the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, the Columbus Police Department, and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. He was placed on a 48-hour hold at the Bartholomew County Jail.
Truitt is facing preliminary charges of murder, rape, and auto theft, according to BCSO.
