INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – United States Attorney Josh Minkler announced Thursday that Levi Alexander Walters, 28, of Westport, was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for three counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
The investigation into Walters’ conduct began when the victim’s mother told police that she had found videos on Walters’ phone, showing him engaging in sexual conduct with her under 10-year-old child. The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office responded to the victim’s residence and said Walters had guns and was threatening to commit suicide. Deputies were able to arrest Walters, ensuring the safety of the victim and her mother.
The Indiana State Police Cyber Crime Unit was requested to conduct an examination of Walters’ cell phone, which revealed numerous videos and images depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor.
“This type of behavior will not be condoned in Bartholomew County,” said Chief Deputy Major Chris Lane. “Our focus is always on the victim, to be sure they get the justice and compassion they deserve.”
