COLUMBUS, Ind. – A local man was arrested on several charges after he supposedly nearly caused several accidents on Sunday afternoon. The Columbus Police Department (CPD) was dispatched to the 100 block of Carr Hill Road, at around 5 p.m., in regards to a possible intoxicated driver who had pulled into a parking lot.
Officers say a witness told them that the driver of the car, later identified as Steven Minor, 66, of Columbus, was weaving in the middle of Jonathan Moore Pike, struck a curb, and nearly ran off the road.
Police found Minor sleeping in the driver’s seat. After waking him, officers said the suspect’s balance was poor and his eyes were bloodshot and glassy. He was allegedly verbally abusive towards CPD and refused to submit to a blood draw before being taken into custody.
Minor is facing preliminary charges of operating a vehicle after being a habitual traffic violator, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, intimidation, and a Bartholomew County warrant.
