COLUMBUS, Ind. – Several reports have been issued to local law enforcement regarding a fraud that involves the Bartholomew County Jail (BCJ).
Residents have reportedly been receiving calls from a scammer who says he is a Bartholomew County Jail Sergeant and claims to be calling to inform them that a loved one has died while incarcerated.
BCJ has confirmed that no inmates have died. Although calls appear to be coming from the jail, residents should not give any personal information to the caller unless they are absolutely certain with whom they are talking.
