SEYMOUR, Ind. – According to 2020 U.S. Census Bureau data released late last week, Jackson County is the fastest-growing rural county in Indiana and the seventh fastest-growing county overall in the state.
Seymour has shown a 23.2% population increase since 2010 and now has 21,569 residents. Brownstown’s population was up by 2.6%, while Crothersville and Medora showed slight decreases.
Jackson County’s growth rate since 2010 was 9.6%, as the population increased from 42,376 citizens to 46,428.
According to the 2020 U.S. Census, more than one-half of Hoosier counties declined in population. However, the State of Indiana registered an overall growth of 4.7% during the past decade.
