EDINBURGH, Ind. – Afghan refugee children who were evacuated and flown to Camp Atterbury are beginning to adjust to Indiana. Over the holiday weekend, they enjoyed the beautiful Hoosier weather and some of them played soccer (futbol) with the 1st Cavalry Division soldiers.
The troops are providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and logistics support during Operation Allies Welcome. As the kids continue to adapt, civilian help is requested and several items are needed.
Team Rubicon and the American Red Cross are now managing donations/volunteers in support of the Afghan evacuees at Camp Atterbury. For more information, go to https://teamrubiconusa.org/resettlement or https://redcross.org. You can also email ResettlementSupport@teamrubiconusa.org.
