COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus will observe the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorism attacks on the USA with a remembrance ceremony this Saturday, September 11, outside at city hall. It begins promptly at 8:40 a.m., and all community members are welcome.
A moment of silence will be observed to correspond with the attacks, beginning at 8:46 a.m., the time the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
There will also be an emergency responder radio dispatch to honor the nearly 3000 Americans who perished at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and on the United Airlines flight that crashed in Pennsylvania.
Members of the Columbus Fire and Police Department Color Guard will be participating in the event. The September 11 memorial observance is scheduled to last about 30 minutes.
