CROTHERSVILLE, Ind. – Indiana State Police (ISP) Troopers, at around 12:30 a.m. on Monday, responded to a two-vehicle accident on I-65 in southern Jackson County that resulted in the deaths of three people and sent the fourth person to a Louisville hospital.
The initial investigation indicates that a Jeep, driven by Kaitlyn N. Schindler, 25, of Marysville, was traveling south in the northbound lanes near the 39-mile marker for an unknown reason. Her vehicle struck an SUV, being driven by Chelsea Jo Boston, 26, of Columbus, head-on.
Schindler, Boston, and a backseat passenger in Boston’s vehicle, Tapanga M. Eudy, 21, of Columbus, all died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision. A front-seat passenger in Boston’s vehicle, Dai Von T. Coram, 25, of Columbus, was transported by Stat Flight to the University of Louisville Hospital in serious condition. Coram has since been released.
It is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. ISP says toxicology results are pending. The crash remains under investigation. Northbound I-65, between the Crothersville and Uniontown exits, was closed for approximately six hours for crash investigation and cleanup.
