COLUMBUS, Ind. – A ten-year tax abatement for a new logistics center was approved by Bartholomew County Council on Tuesday evening. The vote was 6-to-1.
Wilmington, Ohio-based R+L Carriers intends to build the facility in the Meadow Lawn Industrial Park on the north edge of the county. The logistics center will employ about 79 people, with salaries averaging $25.79 an hour.
The company will make a $35 million investment. The county will see receipts of $36,000 in personal property taxes. The county redevelopment commission will receive $700,000 in TIF district funds for the real property. After the abatement expires, the county is expected to bring in $47,000 in annual income tax from R+L.
