COLUMBUS, Ind. – At its meeting Monday afternoon, the Columbus Redevelopment Commission (CRC) unanimously approved the city’s parking commission request to update a study conducted in 2013 by Nelson/Nygaard Consulting Associates.
The matter was tabled by CRC in September when the question arose as to which body, parking or redevelopment, would be the contracting entity in authorizing Nelson/Nygaard’s services for the update.
Attorney Stan Gamso solved the impasse by proposing that CRC issue a grant to the Columbus Board of Works to finance the study. The $19,470 cost will be paid in four installments, reflecting the four phases of the update project: reviewing the old study, engaging key stakeholders, deciding whether or not to proceed, and making recommendations.
In other business, the commission approved a $1 million workforce development grant for the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation. It will cover the hiring of two new iGrad coaches, as well as STEM and transition-of-special-needs students programs.
