SEYMOUR, Ind. – The new Burkart Boulevard Southern Bypass in Seymour is set to open this Monday morning, however, the celebration for the project is Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. During the festivities, pedestrians will be allowed to walk or ride a bike on the two-mile stretch.
The Fraternal Order of Police will be grilling hot dogs and there will be a limited number of Laura Jo’s Cookies and Halloween candy. Parking will be on the west end of the O’Brien Street roundabout which is a dead end.
The roadway connects Tipton Street with South O’Brien Street and opens to cars and trucks after a ribbon-cutting on Monday at 9 a.m. The first phase of the opening of the Burkart Boulevard Southern Bypass will improve traffic flow for motorists in Seymour.
