COLUMBUS, Ind. – As Halloween festivities ramp up this weekend, the Indiana State Police, Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, and Columbus Police Department offer these tips to parents and kids for a safe holiday.
First of all, law enforcement recommends that everyone knows and abides by the appropriate dates and times for their community’s trick-or-treating hours.
Officers suggest that trick-or-treaters carry a flashlight, glow stick, or have reflective material on their costumes and to make sure they can see clearly through masks. Children should be accompanied by an adult, stay on sidewalks whenever possible, and only go to houses in well-lit areas where the front porch light is on.
