COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Indiana Slowpitch Softball Hall Of Fame (CISSHOF) held its third induction ceremony and banquet on Saturday night at the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Over 200 softball enthusiasts attended.
Fourteen former players, coaches, and teams were honored and welcomed into the local Hall of Fame.
Players included Rusty Huston, Dave Pope, Hedy George, Marlin Cox, Bobby Bennett, the late Ernie Lucas, Melvin Roberts, John Dejarnette Jr., Derck Englebert, and Larry Holden. Joining the players as entrants were umpire LeAnne Blackerby and coach Margie Bowman. Two teams, the Ponderosa Playmakers and the Indiana Classics, also received the distinction.
CISSHOF, the brainchild of its president Jerry Cox, is experiencing some positive growing pains. Because of the popularity of the annual banquet and the Hall of Fame itself, the group is moving its induction ceremony to The Commons next year to accommodate the demand for tickets to the event.
