COLUMBUS, Ind. – A Columbus man was arrested Friday morning on several charges after a road rage incident near Columbus East High School.
Several law enforcement officers were outside of Columbus East High School assisting students with a class project, at around 8:15 a.m. on Friday, when they observed a car being operated recklessly in the area. Police say they saw the driver, Jonathan Maina, 25, of Columbus, slamming on the brakes multiple times causing the vehicle behind him to brake hard to avoid a collision.
When both cars stopped on Indiana Avenue, officers reported that the suspect exited his car, threw a milkshake at the other vehicle, and then punched the windshield causing damage to the glass. Police placed him under arrest. He received medical treatment at the scene for his injured hand and was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail.
Maina is facing preliminary charges of intimidation, criminal mischief, and reckless driving.
