COLUMBUS, Ind. – On November 14, 2020, at around 4:20 p.m., Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) K9 Diesel was involved in a foot pursuit which resulted in his death in the line of duty.
This Sunday marks one year since the police dog was killed and local law enforcement has not forgotten him. “It is important that we memorialize his ultimate sacrifice,” said Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers.
“I want to again thank all officers, community members, and K9 crews who paid their respects to honor K9 Diesel,” said BCSO Chief Deputy Major Chris Lane.
A portrait of Diesel continues to hang in the lobby of the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office.
