INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Indiana’s unemployment rate stands at 3.3% for October, much lower than the national rate of 4.6%, according to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD).
The monthly unemployment rate is a U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicator that reflects the number of unemployed people seeking employment within the prior four weeks as a percentage of the labor force.
Indiana’s labor force had a net decrease of 9,183 from September. This was a result of 7,030 fewer unemployed residents and a decrease of 2,153 employed residents.
Indiana’s total labor force, which includes Hoosiers employed and those seeking employment, stands at 3.33 million. The state’s 62.7% labor force participation rate is above the national rate of 61.6%.
