COLUMBUS, Ind. – During the Thursday afternoon board meeting, Columbus Parks and Recreation Department director Mark Jones reflected on the just-concluded five-year master plan that has guided the department since 2017. He said he was pleased with the accomplishments in the plan’s multiple areas of focus.
Regarding new park space, he mentioned NexusPark, the Jackson Street property, and the area north of Discount Tire near Everroad Park. Jones also noted the Clifty Trail and Owens Bend bike lane and walking trail extensions.
As far as improvements to indoor recreation, he cited Lincoln Center, NexusPark, and the Commons playground.
The first phase of the next five-year master plan is expected to be ready for a board vote by April 2022. The public’s input into the next master plan is welcome and a survey is available here.
