NORTH VERNON, Ind. – Longtime nurse at the Jennings County Jail is retiring after 15 years on the job. The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office announced the retirement of nurse Lisa Carmer earlier this week.
Sheriff Kenny Freeman said that Carmer has been a valuable asset to the jail since she started in 2006. She was responsible for overseeing the medical concerns of inmates and establishing policy and guidelines for medical treatment of inmates that will be used for years to come.
Upon retirement, Sheriff Freeman presented her with the Civilian Medal of Appreciation from the American Police Hall of Fame. The sheriff stated, “Not every day do you see people exhibit the dedication and skills that Nurse Lisa exhibited and we will miss her greatly.”
