COLUMBUS, Ind. – The report on the autopsy of two-year-old Emma Sweet was released earlier this week, over five weeks after her death.
Her body was recovered from the White River on November 28, 2021, after she was reported missing three days earlier while in the care of her father, Jeremy Sweet.
An autopsy was conducted on Emma Sweet by Forensic Pathologist D.O. Thomas J. Sozio at Columbus Regional Health on November 29, 2021, and the results are now available. The manner of death was determined to be a homicide. The cause of death was listed as complications of hypothermia and asphyxia due to drowning.
Jeremy Sweet was arrested on the felony charge of neglect of a dependent resulting in death.
