COLUMBUS, Ind. – Bartholomew County Emergency Management (BCEM) says that as of Friday at 2 p.m., Bartholomew County’s travel status has been downgraded from a Travel Warning (Red) to a Travel Watch (Orange).
A “Watch” means conditions are threatening to the safety of the public and only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended. Emergency action plans should be implemented by businesses, schools, and government agencies.
Authorities ask that if you do not need to travel, continue to stay home. If you have to travel, allow extra time and use caution. BCEM says road conditions have improved in most areas throughout the county and crews are making great progress. However, the forecast calls for extremely cold temperatures that could lead to roads and highways re-freezing in some areas.
