COLUMBUS, Ind. – The cause of fire in an outdoor storage shed Tuesday evening is currently listed as undetermined by the Columbus Fire Department (CFD). Firefighters responded to 1712 Timbercrest Dr., at around 7:30 p.m.
Firefighters arrived to find the building heavily involved in flames. The 15-foot x 15-foot shed was located about 20 feet from the residence. Crews extinguished the blaze within minutes. The house did not sustain any damage as the fire was confined to the building.
The homeowners told CFD the shed was equipped with power. Investigators saw cordless power tool charging stations near the suspected area of origin. The building also contained flammable liquids, tools, and a portable space heater that was not plugged in.
There were no injuries. The shed and contents are a total loss with damages estimated at $10,000.
