INDIANAPOLIS – State lawmakers have advanced a bill that would ban transgender women and girls from participating in kindergarten-through-grade 12 sports.
The Senate Education Committee passed the controversial measure on an 8-to-3 vote. The bill would ban students who were born male from competing in female sports…but would not ban students who were born female from competing in male sports.
The full Indiana Senate will now debate the measure. A similar bill passed through the house.
