COLUMBUS, Ind. – United Way of Bartholomew County and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program continue their free tax assistance to county residents.
IRS-certified volunteers are giving confidential and secure basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals. The offer is available to those who make $64,000 or less, have disabilities, the elderly, and limited English-speaking taxpayers.
Consultations are conducted at Nexus Park (formerly Fair Oaks Mall). Call 812-375-2216 for an appointment, Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
In 2021, the VITA program put nearly $1 million back into the local economy by securing tax refunds and saving filing fees for area residents. More information can be found here.
