FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Johnson County Sheriffs Office (JCSO) was called to the scene of a plane crash at the Franklin Flying Field, on Monday at about 2 p.m. The Indiana State Police and fire departments from Franklin, Amity, and Nineveh also responded.
Emergency personnel found a single-engine plane that had gone down just west of the runway on the north end.
The pilot, Floyd Oscar Hollandbeck, 83, of Brownsburg, was extricated from the wreckage and transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital via Lifeline Helicopter. He reportedly had facial injuries and a possible broken leg.
JCSO says the FAA was headed to the site to investigate and determine the cause of the crash.
