COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Redevelopment Commission on Monday approved an update to the 2018 downtown hotel and conference center feasibility study. The original study was conducted by Hunden Strategic Partners, which will also supervise the update. The cost will not exceed $21,600.
Rob Hunden, CEO of Hunden Strategic Partners, told the commission that the update will not be a “cookie-cutter recap” of the original study, as market conditions in the hospitality industry have changed in the interim, due in large part to the pandemic. He said his group will have conversations with Sprague Hotels, the original successful bidder for the project, and Cummins.
Mary Ferdon, of the city administration, noted that the NexusPark fieldhouse, soon to be under construction, will bring in 40,000 unique visitors to the city, who will need lodging.
