SEYMOUR, Ind – A Jackson County man was taken into custody late last week on a charge of possession of pornography/obscene material, a Level 6 felony, said Jackson County Sheriff Rick Meyer. Michael Alexander, 57, of Seymour, allegedly admitted to sending inappropriate videos of himself to an underage female and to having received photos, of a sexual nature, of the adolescent.
The suspect was in violation of a house arrest agreement by possessing a smartphone. His house arrest was the result of a charge of solicitation of a minor which occurred in Jennings County in 2019.
The current incident began on February 26 when the community corrections department was looking for Alexander to discuss obscene images located on his phone. When police found and interviewed him, he supposedly told them he had social media accounts on several platforms under different names and had communicated with a girl who he said initiated contact with him through Messenger.
Alexander was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Detention Center after the interview.
