FRANKLIN, Ind. – At a media conference on Wednesday at the Franklin Police Department, authorities in Johnson County announced their latest drug sweep netted 31 individuals charged with drug-related crimes.
The operation was executed throughout the county Wednesday and was a joint effort of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, the Franklin and Greenwood Police Departments, and the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects range in age from 20 to 67 and no one arrested has been part of other recent round-ups in the county.
Prosecutor Joe Villanueva says methamphetamine is still a serious issue in the community with 33 charges alone for the narcotic. Other drug-related charges include possession and dealing heroin, fentanyl, suboxone, and oxycodone.
Greenwood Police Chief James Ison stated that drug overdoses continue to rise throughout the county and these joint efforts will continue to fight drug-related crimes.
