NORTH VERNON, Ind. -After a theft was reported to the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office last Friday, an investigation began that eventually produced four arrests. A known male had apparently stolen several electronic items and car keys.
The next day, deputies contacted Nicholas Payne, the theft suspect. It was discovered that he had an active warrant for failure to appear for sentencing on an armed robbery charge so he was taken into custody.
Earlier this week, the inquiry led to the execution of a search warrant for a house in Country Squire Lakes, and one of the stolen articles was supposedly located. Deputies also allegedly found about ¾ of a pound of crystal methamphetamine, several Oxycodone tablets, drug-related items, and around $6000 in cash.
Brian Loos was booked for dealing meth, possession of a narcotic drug, maintaining a common nuisance, and receiving stolen property. Ezra Engle was arrested for maintaining a common nuisance and an Indiana parole warrant. John Blount was charged with possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, and visiting a common nuisance. And, Nicholas Payne was charged with theft and the armed robbery warrant.
