DOOR COUNTY, Wisc. – Thomas Minar, former President of Franklin College, pleaded no contest to four felony sex crime charges in a Wisconsin court on Thursday. The court found him guilty on three counts of possession of child pornography and one count of child enticement-sexual contact. Several other charges were dismissed.
Door County, Wisconsin, prosecutors say Minar engaged in “sexually explicit” computer chats with a 15-year-old boy on the online dating site, Grindr. An undercover cop, who was posing as the boy, ended up meeting with Minar at a fast-food restaurant in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, and took him into custody in January 2020.
Franklin College terminated his employment immediately after his arrest. He had served as president for about four-and-one-half years.
The sentencing for Minar is scheduled for June 6.
