SEYMOUR, Ind. – The Indiana State Police (ISP)-Versailles Post investigated a crash Sunday night on I-65, near Seymour, that claimed the life of a Marion County woman. Troopers were called to the scene at 11 p.m.
The initial inquiry indicated that a car, being driven by Erika J. Jimenez, 35, of Indianapolis, was traveling south on I-65, near the 51-mile marker, just north of the Seymour exit. Investigators believe that her vehicle became disabled and came to rest in the right driving lane of I-65.
It was determined that Jimenez exited her vehicle and was standing near it when it was hit by a box truck. The victim was also struck and sustained fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead by the Jackson County Coroner’s Office. The truck driver was not injured.
ISP says the accident remains under investigation.
