COLUMBUS, Ind. – A Bartholomew County man was arrested on several charges after he fled from the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Saturday night. The Columbus Police Department (CPD) responded to an accident near 10th and Iowa Streets at around 11:15 p.m.
Officers were informed that one of the drivers, Shane D. Wilson, 25, of Columbus, had fled the scene on foot.
When police located him a short time later, they noted a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and some minor injuries. He was taken to Columbus Regional Health for treatment. CPD applied for and received a warrant for a blood draw after the suspect allegedly refused to cooperate with the DUI investigation.
Wilson was taken into custody, transported to the Bartholomew County Jail, and booked for operating a vehicle while intoxicated (endangerment), intimidation, and leaving the scene of an accident.
