SEYMOUR, Ind. – A traffic stop conducted by the Indiana State Police (ISP)-Versailles Post on Tuesday afternoon led to the discovery of a large amount of marijuana and cash. The driver of the vehicle was arrested on felony charges.
Sgt. Stephen Wheeles pulled over a car on southbound I-65 at the 51-mile marker near Seymour at around 5 p.m. While questioning the man, the trooper became suspicious that criminal activity was taking place.
During a search, ISP allegedly found about 60 vacuum-sealed packages containing suspected marijuana weighing more than 70 pounds, plus over $16,000 in US currency.
The driver, Arman Hakobyan, 37, of Chatsworth, California, was arrested and taken to Jackson County Jail on initial charges of dealing over 10 pounds of marijuana and possession of marijuana.
Law enforcement says the pot is estimated to have a street value of $150,000 to $200,000.
