NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) worked two related cases on Tuesday.
Coordinating with the Columbus Police Department (CPD) and utilizing new technologies, Sheriff Kenny Freeman said both cases were solved within two hours. These latest innovations allow communication to take place between agencies by sharing real-time data.
JCSO received a report of a 15-year-old female runaway from Geneva Township. Shortly thereafter, a vehicle was allegedly stolen in the same area. Using new technology implemented by the sheriff’s office and assisted by CPD, the runaway was found safe in the stolen car in Columbus.
The teenager was taken to a juvenile detention center and the vehicle was returned to its owner.
