COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) and Edinburgh Police Department conducted a traffic stop on US 31, just south of I-65, on Saturday at around 10:30 p.m. The driver of the vehicle, with a Tennessee registration, was identified as Reagan Fuller, 23, Smithville, Indiana.
Deputies said he told them the car belonged to a friend and that he was driving it from Michigan to Tennessee. He also supposedly said that marijuana was inside the vehicle and handed law enforcement a brown bag.
In the bag, BCSO allegedly found four containers, two of which had a rolled marijuana cigarette. When the suspect exited the car, he told deputies that nothing else illegal was inside. However, in the back seat, officers say they found a brown box, with what appeared to be a Tommy Gun and a circular magazine inside that would hold ammunition for the weapon. When asked about the items, he said they were being transported for a friend.
Fuller was jailed and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
While at Bartholomew County Jail, a 6.23-gram bag of suspected heroin/fentanyl was allegedly located on his person. Eight smaller bags of a grey substance weighing 4.87 grams were also supposedly discovered in his possession. After examination, the Tommy gun was found not to have a firing pin, but it appeared to have all other components.
