SEYMOUR, Ind. – The Seymour Police Department (SPD) received a request for a welfare check on a female that did not return to work after a break last Thursday evening. Officers checked the area where she was last seen but they were unable to find her.
On Friday, SPD learned of her possible location after the victim reached out to a friend. Using technology, investigators were able to pinpoint her location near Columbus. The Columbus Police Department (CPD) found the woman, along with a male.
The victim told police that an ex-boyfriend had pulled her into a vehicle and drove off. While in the car, she alleged that the ex-boyfriend battered her several times. CPD tried to question the suspect, but he became combative, so he was not interviewed.
Seymour police arrested James A. Hampton Jr., 53, of Seymour, for criminal confinement, intimidation, and domestic battery. The suspect was taken to the Jackson County Jail.
