INDIANAPOLIS – The DNR Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology (DHPA) recently announced plans to award 15 federal Historic Preservation Fund grants totaling more than $575,000 for historic preservation and archaeology projects in Indiana communities.
In most cases, these grants require at least a dollar-for-dollar match of local or private funds, though many exceed that threshold. In total, these grants will spur a total projected investment of $1.8 million in these important cultural resource projects.
Among the 15 historic preservation and archaeology projects chosen were:
- The Indiana Medical History Museum receives a $38,850 grant for masonry rehabilitation
- The McGowan Hall Foundation was granted $50,000 for urgent masonry rehabilitation
- Ball State University gets $49,995 fo archaeological surveys at Harrison-Crawford State Forest
- Ball State University was awarded $49,977 for archaeological surveys at Spring Mill State Park
- The City of Madison and Friends of the Ohio Theater receive a $40,000 grant for rehabilitation
- The Rush County Community Foundation gets $29,150 to rehabilitate the East Hill Cemetery
