COLUMBUS, Ind -The Bull Dog Alumni Association has named Columbus North High School (CNHS) instructor Scott Seavers as the Outstanding Teacher of the Year for the 2021-2022 school year. He will receive a $1,000 honorarium, according to the Bull Dog Alumni Association.
Seavers has been employed with the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC) as a teacher at CNHS since 1995. A graduate of Ball State University, he has taught a variety of business classes, including college-level courses, for students planning to continue their post-high school education.
Other responsibilities have included service on a number of committees, oversight and guidance for Senior Projects, and coordinating job placement for students. Since 2008, Seavers has been the North Varsity Girls Golf Coach, as well as an advisor/sponsor with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
BCSC students had an opportunity to nominate teachers from criteria such as the ability to motivate students, positive and supportive classroom climate, thorough and timely grading of assignments, high expectation of students, the creativity of assignments, and strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. A committee chose Seavers using those criteria.
