INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) announced Monday that the unemployment rates for Bartholomew and surrounding counties ticked slightly higher in May.
For Bartholomew County, the May rate was 2.0%, up from the April rate of 1.7%. The county also reported 42,689 employed residents out of a 43,577-person labor force.
The Jennings County rate for May was 2.5%, compared to 2.3% the previous month. Johnson County’s unemployment rate was 2.0%, which was a little higher than the 1.6% April rate. Jackson County recorded a 2.2% May rate, compared to 1.8% for April.
DWD announced Friday that the Hoosier unemployment rate for May was 2.5% versus 2.2% for April.
