FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office reported Friday that an inmate attempted suicide in the jail facility last Sunday, June 19. Correctional staff located the inmate inside of her cell during a watch tour. The inmate was identified as Jocelyn Rhoades, 26, of Carmel.
Members of the correctional staff performed CPR and notified Franklin Fire Department EMS. Rhoades was transported to Johnson Memorial Health and later transferred to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She passed away from her injuries on Monday, June 20. No foul play is expected.
The sheriff’s office has been in contact with her father from the time of the incident. Johnson County Sheriff Duane Burgess says the Indiana Department of Corrections and the Federal Department of Prisoners were notified of the incident and the death on Monday, June 20.
