GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Greenwood Police Department has provided an update on the fatal hit-and-run that took place earlier this month.
On June 15, at about 11:45 p.m., the Greenwood Police Department responded to a hit-and-run accident where a pedestrian was struck on State Road 135, just north of Fairview Road. Investigators recovered video from a nearby business and have a vehicle of interest, described as a 2002-2008 Chevy Trailblazer. The vehicle is missing the right-side door mirror and mirror assembly (picture). There is most likely damage to the right front headlight, right fender, and bumper. The gold-colored Chevy emblem may be missing from the front grill.
The vehicle of interest is seen on video at 11:03 p.m., north of the crash site. After stopping, the driver turns on the hazard lights and proceeds north of S.R. 135, and makes a right-hand turn onto Fry Road. After making the turn, the hazard lights are still activated. At the time of the incident, the victim was walking southbound on S.R. 135, wearing a large red backpack.
