SEYMOUR, Ind. – A Jackson County man has been arrested after allegedly stealing thousands of dollars worth of items from storage units.
Officers with the Seymour Police Department (SPD) originally investigated a burglary at Storage Express, at 1339 W. Tipton St., in Seymour, on June 16. The owner said items totaling $3,000 were stolen from their unit. Five days later, SPD investigators learned that items were also stolen from two other storage units.
On Monday, June 27, SPD investigators interviewed a suspect that was developed, identified as Travis J. Baughman, 39, of Seymour. During the interview, he allegedly admitted to cutting the locks off the storage units and stealing from them.
He was taken into custody and charged with three felony counts of burglary and three felony counts of theft. Baughman now resides at the Jackson County Jail.
